The Lack Of Sleep Triggers More Dangers Than You Think

Do you lack sleep, or have trouble getting the right amount of sleep every night?

Well, the chronic lack of sleep is a sign that your health is in grave danger. This should not be ignored and must be given the necessary immediate medical attention.

The lack of sleep is now considered a deadly epidemic that affects 1/3 to 1/2 of the population. It could very well become America's number 1 health concern.

Numerous studies have linked the lack of sleep to the following conditions;

  • heart disease
  • diabetes
  • obesity
  • depression
  • loss of mental agility
  • weariness and body aches
  • weakened immune system
  • dark circles under eyes
  • color blindness
  • hallucination
  • confusion
  • headaches
  • tremors
  • irritability
  • nausea
  • incoherent speech
  • death

As if the list above is not yet long enough, researchers from Case Western University School Of Medicine [CWUSM] recently published a study in the Cancer journal, which found a link between lack of sleep and colon tumors.

The study reveals that those who get less than 6 hours of sleep a night are 50% more likely to develop precancerous tumor of the colon compared with those getting 7 hours of sleep.

If this prolonged lack of sleep is left untreated, the body's deep healing processes cannot be completed, the inflammation continues, and the precancerous colon tumors can become malignant. I know of several cases of call center agents on graveyard shifts who had developed and succumbed to pancreatic cancer. And also of students who lack sleep becoming bloated!

Making up for lost sleep at night during daytime does not remedy the situation because our bodies are programmed in such as way that our system shuts off only during our night sleep to give rest to our organs.

The lack of sleep at night deprives our organs of their programmed rest, resulting in an overworked system that translates to illnesses.

So, there you are. Get at least 6 hours of sleep at night. If you have chronic difficulty getting the right amount, seek immediate medical attention. The dangers of lack of sleep are real!
