Are You Eating The Right Bananas?
To get the maximum benefits out of the bananas you eat, read the findings of a Japanese research study from the University of Tokyo.
According to this Japanese study, fully ripe bananas produce TNF, a substance that has the ability to combat abnormal or cancerous cells. Bananas with more dark patches on its skin have higher anti-cancer and immunity enhancement qualities.
The degree of its anti-cancer potency corresponds to the ripeness of the bananas. The riper the banana, the more potent it is against cancer.
In an animal study, the Japanese researchers at Tokyo University compared the health benefits of banana, grape, apple, watermelon, pineapple, pear and persimmon. Banana emerged the clear winner with the best results among the fruits. It increased the number of white blood cells, thus enhancing the immunity of the body, and produced the anti-cancer substance TNF.
According to the Japanese professor who led the research, the best bananas are the yellow skin with dark spots on it. Compared with the green skin bananas, they are 8 times more effective in enhancing the property of white blood cells.
The research recommends a daily intake of 1 to 2 bananas daily to build up the body's immunity against diseases like colds and flu.
The findings should make you take a second hard look at the lowly bananas. Our ignorance, and the abundance of these fruits in this part of the world, have made us overlook and ignore the big difference it can make in our overall wellbeing. We are fortunate indeed to be gifted by the Lord Almighty with a bountiful supply of bananas in our land.
It is no wonder that the Japanese are gobbling up our bananas. They're the biggest importers of our harvests.
