Here are 7 tips on how to boost your immune system and ward off sickness;

1. Focus on Vitamin D.

This is probably THE most important of all of these tips!

If you get your vitamin D levels tested, you generally want to be between 40-70 ng/ml. Once you get above 50 ng/ml, that's where the real benefits start to happen with a maximized immune system and balanced hormones.

Is This The Burger We've All Been Eating?

This is a shocking and greatly disturbing video about one of the most popular foods we, especially our children, consume. Whether you choose to believe the exact story that this popular video below portrays is up to you.  However, most of us are now aware of the major issues surrounding the sources of food in popular fast food chains, and the amount of pesticide residues, hormones, antibiotics, preservatives, and other nasty chemicals in typical fast food meals.

The Truth Why More People Get Sick During Winter

Do cold temperatures really make you sick? This huge misconception that more people get sick during the winter months due to the cold weather is blatantly false.

Multiple studies exist that show exposure to cold actually increases immunity to diseases. Like the one that demonstrated how cold therapy, such as ice water baths or cold water swimming, can stimulate an improvement in the body's immune system.

Chlorine for Your Sweetener?

Believe it or not, I've unknowingly used chlorine as my coffee sweetener on so many occasions simply because the sweetener of my choice was not around. I'm sure a lot of you have also been deceived into using this "healthy" sugar replacement. I see it everywhere where a sweetener is needed..... in my kins' and friends' houses, in coffee shops and restaurants, in airplanes and ships.

I'm referring to the very popular brand Splenda [sucralose]. The manufacturing process for Splenda starts with cane sugar. By the time the processing is done, all the real sugar disappears and what is left are the chlorocarbons....the same molecules that chlorine is made of. This is the same chlorine we put in our pools and in our washing machine in the form of chlorine bleach.

Obesity Is Contagious?

This is a very interesting study. But before the headline makes you start raising your eyebrows, this has nothing to do with microbes.

Data from a 2007 research published in the New England Journal of Medicine seem to show that obesity is "socially contagious," meaning, people are inclined to be obese too when their friends and family become obese.

Rebirth Of Standing Desks

A standing desk, as the term implies, was envisioned to be used for reading or writing in an upright position. It was a popular fixture in the homes and offices of the affluent during the 18th and 19th century.

The standing desks, however, never really dominated the market as the traditonal desks, designed for use with comfortable chairs, were preferred by the great majority of corporate and individual consumers.

How Man's Health Deteriorated

This is a satirical account of how Man's health deteriorated over the years due to his unhealthy food choices and passive lifestyle. The presentation may be funny, but I find a lot of truth in it.

Here goes.....

In the beginning, God created the Heavens and the Earth and populated the Earth with broccoli, cauliflower and spinach, green and yellow and red vegetables of all kinds, so Man and Woman would live long and healthy lives.

Too Old To Get Fit?

[I'm reposting this article which I accidentally deleted when I updated my blog posts.]

I've heard this lame excuse too many times already to the point that it is becoming an accepted alibi to shy away from regular exercise. Actually, for many folks, it is mostly a pretext for laziness.
Investment in our personal health and well-being, through proper diet and nutrition, wholesome lifestyle, and routine workout, should have ideally started when we were still young. This does not mean, however, that one can no longer embark on a get fit program once he/she is already way past prime age. [read: Getting Fit And Healthy After 50]
