Watercress belongs to the cabbage family and is related to garden cress and mustard. This aquatic plant is one of the oldest known vegetables eaten by man.

Blood samples taken from the volunteers over a 24 hour period revealed that they had less HIF in their blood. [read: BasicTips To Reduce Breast Cancer Risks]

And what's the significance of this findings?

Blood vessels running through tumours in your body are indicative of a malignancy. Tumours are able to survive and grow on the nutrients carried through these blood vessels. To increase the number of blood vessels servicing it, tumours send a signal which releases a protein called HIF, which tells the healthy tissues to redirect its blood vessels to the hungry tumours.

The result of the study cited above indicates that the consumption of watercress may arrest the growth of breast cancer by inhibiting the release of HIF. The subjects of the study still have PEITC in their blood, the HIF inhibiting content of watercress, during the 24 hour period after eating it. This means that the formation of blood vessels that feed tumour cells is averted.

You should have watercress recipes on hand so you won't get bored and tired with the same watercress preparation everytime. Remember, the advice is to eat watercress as often as possible to insure the presence of enough HIF inhibiting PEITC running in your blood. [Search Amazon.com for Watercress Recipes]
