Earthing is a totally new word to me, and I bet, to most of you as well. When I first came across an article about it recently, I was so intrigued that I read it to the last word.
No regrets, however. It's an interesting addition to the vocabulary, as well as to general knowledge.
Dr. Stephen Sinatra, a cardiologist, explains that Earthing, also known as grounding, is a caveman medicine. It means literally walking barefoot on the earth, sand, or grass. Concrete and slate surfaces would be alright, but not asphalt. Ceramic tile surfaces are also okay as long as the tiles are laid on top of concrete or gravel foundations.
So, what has Earthing got to do with medicine?
The Earth is hit by lightning thousands of times per second all around the equator. As a result of this, the Earth's surface is converted into a rich reservoir of electrons. If you ground, your bare feet will be sucking up these electrons into your body, which in turn, will neutralize the sea of chemicals and free radicals that we usually get from the air we breathe; the heavy metals, insecticides, pesticides, and radiation in our environment; the toxins from the medicines we take; and the sugars and trans fats in our food.
The doctor said that all the good antioxidants will not be enough to combat these free radicals. Earthing is a good companion in this battle. It's free. This tactic does not need any device. .Just walk barefoot on the right surfaces to reap its enormous benefits. It's that simple
According to the doctor, Earthing affects the body in several ways; autonomic motor system calms down, the vagus nerve is influenced resulting in more parasympathetic stimulation, cortisol dynamics is improved, better sleep is experienced, inflammation, blood thickness, and irregular heartbeats, are also improved.
Earthing is like a panacea for the cardiovascular system. It does everything right.
People who take a vacation on the beach and lie and walk barefoot on the sand, feel refreshed, calm, and alive when they get home. They also sleep better while they were away, not due to the lack of stress, but because of the grounding effect. It really makes a big difference.
