Stop Blaming Aging For Alzheimer's Disease
Contrary to common belief, chronological age is not the biggest risk factor for Alzheimer's Disease. This is probably because of published findings indicating that the incidence of the disease doubles every five years in people over 65 years of age.
Rather, Alzheimer's Disease, and other major illnesses like cardiovascular illnesses, diabetes, cancer, and macular degeneration, are the complicating results of risk facors like unhealthy lifestyle, poor diet, and stressful and toxic existence accummulated over a length of time. These are the roots of the diseases. Don't point the accusing finger to the most common scapegoat - aging - because it does not help in rooting out the true causes of the disease. A lot can be done to avoid or prevent the diseases if we exercise the necessary diligence and precautions early. Shift to preventive mode before the worst happens.[read: Best Way To Protect Against Alzheimer's Disease]
I used to believe too, that Alzheimer's Disease comes with age, and nothing can be done to avoid it. Boy, was I wrong! I've read cases of people as young as 40 already suffering from the disease. I've also learned that this disease begins to develop as early as twenty years before the symptoms manifest in the individual. What's more heart breaking is the emotional stress that the loved ones of sufferers have to undergo.
Recently, scientists have discovered that beside the pancreas, insulin is also produced in the brain. The brain begins to malfunction when it can no longer secrete insulin, and this leads to Alzheimer's disease. The scientists found out that abnormal protein deposits were present in the brains of Alzheimer's patients similar to the protein deposits in the pancreas of diabetic patients. This explains why diabetics have a 65% higher risk of Alzheimer's. The scientists who conducted this study love to refer to Alzheimer's Disease as Type III diabetes.
The good news is you can prevent Alzheimer's disease the way you prevent diabetes. Make sure to stick to a healthy lifestyle, avoid the toxic, unhealthy foods, exercise regularly, and keep stress off your life. [read; Best Way To Protect Against Alzheimer's Disease]
